beatgoeson Posted April 8, 2015 Report Share Posted April 8, 2015 Nikako da doÄekam da neko otvori ovakvu temu, jer bi se tu naÅ¡le stvari koje me ponajviÅ¡e zanimaju. Uz napomenu da bih "acid" i "smooth" džez pre svrstao u neku pop-muziku. Ako neko ima mnogo predloga za ovaj segment, radije neka otvori novu temu. InaÄe, neka ih i ovde. Možda je ova kategorija preÅ¡iroka, ali, u njoj je inaÄe sve teže praviti precizno razvrstavanje, pa neka ovo bude mix big-bendova, vokalnog džeza, džez-roka i fuzije, world music-a... Pre svega zbog "A" strane, sledeći album smatram dostojnim da otvori temu. Svojevremeno ga je izdao RTB. Sigurno jedan od bolje svirajućih vinila iz te kuće. Digitalno izdanje je isto odliÄno, može poslužiti kao test za poreÄ‘enje. Kompilacija pesama razliÄitih stilova, iz perioda koji obuhvata petnaestak godina. Budući da su, uglavnom, u pitanju ranije neobjavljivane stvari, može se tretirati kao redovan album. Meni jedan od dražih, posebno zbog naslovne pesme. Monk put together an all-star group (an expanded version of his sextet) and toured, performing an all-Thelonious program. Just prior to the beginning of the live performances, T.S. and his band recorded this CD. The music is excellent, but there are so many guest artists making cameo appearances (including trumpeters Roy Hargrove, Clark Terry, Arturo Sandoval and Wallace Roney, Wayne Shorter on soprano, tenors Grover Washington Jr. and Jimmy Heath, pianists Herbie Hancock and Geri Allen, bassists Ron Carter, Christian McBride and Dave Holland and singers Dianne Reeves and Kevin Mahogany) that one never really gets to hear Monk's band very much. Considering that T.S.'s unit includes altoist Bobby Watson and singer Nnenna Freelon (both of whom are only heard from briefly), it is a pity that he opted for so many unnecessary guests. There are good versions of such tunes as "Little Rootie Tootie" (which has a very effective Grover Washington Jr. tenor solo), "Crepuscule With Nellie" (one of the few renditions of a band actually stretching out on this theme), and "Bright Mississippi," plus the debut of a recently discovered Monk composition ("Two Timer"), so this set is recommended. But one is left looking forward to hearing the actual T.S. Niti je ostala dovoljno autentiÄna da bi reprezentovala folklor, niti je postala dovoljno "world" da bi se iskreno zavolela. Ipak, ima tu dobrih stvari. Kada se pojavio Rabih Abou-Khalil, baÅ¡ mi se svidela njegova muzika. Kasnije se tržiÅ¡te zatrpalo zvucima oud-a pa je stvar otiÅ¡la u krajnost. PosluÅ¡am joÅ¡ poneÅ¡to od Renaud Garcia-Fons-a... 1. Weć Quincy Jones nije tipiÄni big-bend. Ni ovaj drugi. Opet, ne verujem da ovde ima mnogo poklonika klasiÄnog big-bend zvuka, tipa Benija Gudmena, Glena Milera... Oba spomenuta albuma imaju i vokale. Ali ih ne bih svrstao u vokalni džez. No, ako je procena da ima dovoljno interesa za vokalni džez, neka se otvori tema - tu bi bilo mesta i za smooth jazz. Slažem se sa ovim, doprinelo bi urednosti i većoj preglednosti tema. Hajde tradicionalno ti otvori posebne teme za big bend i vokalni džez, pa će ova tema dobiti potpuni smisao. Moje miÅ¡ljenje je da za klasiÄne big-bendove nema naroÄitog interesa. Broj muziÄara nije reper prema kojem bih se ja upravljao, pa mi, recimo, nikad ne bi palo na pamet da Deodato i druga dva albuma koje sam postavio, smestim u tu kategoriju.
